Sunday 22 September

Millie Swan led our prayers and encouraged us to think about tax injustice and to pray for justice for the poor. She had some interesting facts and figures which shocked many of us.

Jon Bruton joined us to lead our sung worship and also to talk about worship. We thought about lots of different hebrew words which gave different meanings to worship. We thought about being created to worship God. We were reminded that worship exists when everything comes under God in our priorities. We gave some thought to worshipping in spirit and in truth and how some traditions favour one over the other. Jon encouraged us to remember that at the root of worship is relationship with God. An authentic, honest, ongoing relationship with a God who desires our company so much that he sent His only Son to live and die for us and sends His Spirit to assure us of that relationship.

Our worship flows out of praise and thanksgiving. Our motive in everything must be to give glory and honour to God.
