Our series in Hebrews 11 continued yesterday when Graham Wigley talked about Gideon and Barak (Hebrews 11:32). He colourfully recounted the stories to us from the Old Testament.
It was clear that God saw in Gideon and Barak gifts and abilities that they didn’t see in themselves. In addition to calling them do to a specific task for Him, God called them to work together with others, in community, in doing that task.
We broke into small groups and wrote down the gifts and skills we saw in each other. This exercise demonstrated that others saw gifts and abilities that we do not feel confident we have ourselves. It was encouraging to think that if we could see these things in each other God can see so much more.
We were encouraged to learn about each other’s gifts and skills so that as a community we can work together and do the things which God has asked of us.
